It was way too hot in October here in the south. Of course we rarely have Fall weather in Georgia but that has not always been the case. Growing up, we could set our watch to the exact date that we would experience the first cool breeze of Fall, usually happening the last week of September. Gradually over the last ten years, the climate has changed significantly, exchanging Fall for what I like to call “Swinter”. Swinter is the time of year for Georgians when our weather skips Fall, and flip-flops between Summer and Winter temperatures. If you’re a Georgian, you know exactly what I mean, 80 degrees one day and 40 degrees suddenly a few days later. Okay, maybe it’s not that drastic but its pretty darn close. It is so annoying to me because out of all of the seasons, Fall has always been my favorite. To make the best of our finicky weather, I love to create Fall scenes and smells throughout my home. Check out some of my favorite Fall decorations, fragrant, and treats.
Decorations
I added a rocker that I painted white, a wooden milk box painted gold, plastic mini pumpkins, leaves, and a mum plant to the front porch Fall display. Fortunately, I will be able to add real pumpkins this week, as the weather is finally cooling down just in time for the first week of November.
Fall fragrant:
My kids and I have seasonal allergies so my preference is to use my diffuser to disperse essential oils. Not only does it act as a fragrant for the home but essential oils also have health benefits both physically and emotional/mental benefits.
Diffuser Essential Oil Combinations:
Trick or Treat: 3 drops of Orange, 2 drops of Frankincense, 2 drops of Cinnamon
Falling Leaves: 5 drops of Orange, 1 drop of Patchouli, 1 drop of Ginger
Home Products:
Mrs. Meyer’s: Apple Cider & Orange Clove products. (Multi-Surface Cleaner, Hand Soap, & Dish Soap)
Body Products:
Bath and Body Works: Vanilla Spice, Cinnamon Pumpkin, & Champagne Apple & Honey – my new favorite!
Almond Oil mixed with orange, bergamot, sage, and lemon essential oils.
Fall Treats:
Homemade Apple Pie with Salted Caramel Sauce (sorry…lost my pictures)
